SmartCity  is the first European settlement  of the global network. Creating a network of opportunities,  that aim to serve the EU and North African markets. The project was unveiled on 10 September 2007 by then Prime Minister of Malta, Lawrence Gonzi, and it will be concluded in 2021.

Fort Rinella is a tourist attraction, in Kalkara, built during the British period. Inside we find the British flag and a cannon that weighs 100 tons and is famous because there are only two, and is fired once a day; and this is one of the four guns that was used to fight Italians and could be fired every 6 minutes and was 65 centimeters to destroy the enemy's territory. Today is a tourist attraction because they make a performance such as a parade and soldiers play a battle.

World War Z is a horror thriller starring Brad Pitt. The beautiful landscapes of Malta serve as the backdrop to tension and continuous changes of atmosphere of the film. Gladiator starring Russell Crowe and directed by Ridley Scott; part of Pinocchio movie is set in the picturesque village of Kalkara; Troy where there is  the presence of Brad Pitt in the role of Achilles. Among the protagonists of the film The Blue Lagoon in Comino, Golden Bay, Fort Ricasoli and Mellieha.
